Brighspot

This afternoon I went to brightspot at Gandaria City, this is the second time that I came to brightspot market. As an indonesian, I'm so proud that brightspot provide our local brand to distributes their products through this event. In fact, this event bring our local brand to reach a recognition from society in Indonesia. Cause mostly, international brand are more trustable for indonesian people. But through brighspot market, Indonesia designers prove their capability in selling goods. Well, to be honest, the price is approximately the same with international brand, but I admit it the model is very nice and some of the fabrics are good quality, in my opinion. I'm so proud for those local brand, because they've a really nice creativity.

I bought blezer and unique clothes in an affordable price. The boutiques were Majic and Coloriot. I'm not advertise their products for sure, but their clothes are pretty. This aftenoon wasn't crowded. So it was fun to have a big space to shop hehe. The brightspot market is in the third floor of gandaria city mall, 7-11 June 2012 at 11am - 11pm. Enjoy! ;)

Survivor From the Sky

Yesterday I went to my ietls course, on that day the activities that we did was reading task. The teacher gave me 2 reading passages, one of the articles is about the story of young lady who survive from the plane crash.

In remarkable documentary, Wings of Hope, German director Werner Herzog recounts the true story of an eighteen years old girl, the solo survivor of a plane crash in the Amazon jungle 1971. Twenty-nine years later Herzog returns to the jungle with Juliane Koeple, now 46 years old biologist, and she tels her amazing story on film.

Juliane had just graduated from highschool in Lima, Pery and, with her mother, was flying out to spend christmas at her father's research station in the jungle. A half hour into the flight they encountered a horrific storm. In the midst of wild turbulence, the plane was struck by lightning and fell into a nose dive. Passenger screamed as baggage flew around the compartment. Then the plane broke into pieces and suddenly Juliane found herself outside free-falling 30,000 feat. 'I was suspended in mid-air, still in my seat. It wasn't so much that I had left the plane but that the plane had left me. It simply wasn't there anymore. I was all alone with my row of seats,' says Juliane. 'I sailed on through the air, then I tumbled into a fall. The seatbelt squeezed in my stomach and I could breathe anymore.' Before she lost consciousness, Juliane saw the dense jungle below, 'a deep green, like broccoli', with no clearings for hundreds of miles.
Somehow, miraculously, Juliane survived that fall from the sky. In the film, she speculates on a number of factors which may have combined to save her. First, the storm had produced a trong updraft from the thunder clouds. Secondly, being strapped into a row of seats, she was aware of falling in a spiralling movement, like a maple seed pod. Then hitting the canopy of trees, she tumbled through a maze of vines which slowed her landing in deep mud.

But surviving from the fall, though miraculous in itself, was just the beginning. When Juliane awake hours laterm wet and covered with mud, she was still strapped to her seat. Staggering to her feet, she assessed her injuries: a fractured bone in the neck, concussion and deep cuts in her leg and back. She was also in shock, lost and totally alone in the amazon jungle. No doubt it was her familiarity with the wilderness that enabled her to cope. Her parents were biologist and Juliane had grown up in the jungle. She realised her only hope was to follow a little stream of water nearby, trusting that it would eventually lead to a larger river and rescue. With no provisions, dressed in the miniskirt she had worn on the plane and wearing just one shoe, she set off through the jungle. She passed broken fragments from the plane -  a wheel, an engine. 'Initially, I saw planes circling above me, but after a few days I realised the search had been called off,' she said.
Surprisingly, she felt no hunger but as the days passed her health was deteriorating rapidly. The gash in her shoulder, where flies her had laid their eggs was now crawling with maggots. 'I knew I'd perish in the jungle so I stayed in the water.' Walking in the stream however presented one risk more serious than any others. Before each step she had to poke ahead in the sand with a stick, to avoid treading on poisonous sting rays, lying hidden on the bottom. As the stream grew into a river, swimming was the only option. However, here in deeper water, there were new threats. Crocodiles basking on the shores slipped silently into the water as she passed. Juliane trusted that they feared humans and were entering the water to hide. She swam on. On the tenth day, starving and barely conscious, she spotted a hut and canoe. They belonged to three woodcutters working nearby. Rescue was at hand.

For this 46 years old woman, re-living such a traumatic experience on film must have been a great challange. But she shows little emotion. Flying back into the jungle she sits in the same seat (19F) as on that fateful day. She's dispassionate, unemotional in describing the flight. On the ground, when they finally locate the crash site, in dense jungle, Juliane is scientific in her detachment, looking through the deribs, now buried under dense vegetation. She examines a girl's purse, the skeleton of a suitcase. Walking along the stream, she spots the engine which she remembers passing on the third day. Her arms and legs are covered with mosquitoes, but she seems to ignore all discomfort. Then, back in the town, standing in front of a monument erected in memory of the victims of the crash, entitled Alas de Esperanza (Wings of Hope), Juliane comments simply, 'I emerged, as the sole embodiment of hope from this disaster.'

The Power of Words

Hi guys, how are you? I hope you're doing fine, cause I'm actually in a really down situation which was I don't know why. Maybe it because the complicated feelings caused by final examination. So I go back to this blog and found out there's something good to write. I've seen this 2010 advertising last year in marketing communication class. It wasn't grab my attention but it just gimme a simple lesson. "The Power of Words" they said. Yes, choices of words were so important. We can see from the video above that the man got lot of money after the kind lady change his words. The lady was simply change the arrangement of words from "I'M BLIND PLEASE HELP" into "IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND I CAN'T SEE IT". How the effect of words could change people mind and act. She turned out the words sounds emotionally persuasive. Then prove that it works. From the study called Semantic, "Words mean different things to different people, depending on the backgrounds, occupations, education and geographic locations." Pretty interesting isn't it? How words may change attitudes. Therefore, the making of advertising takes time, the plan, the concept, the strategical words or could be tactical at the same time. As an advertiser they have to be creative, unique as well as smart to deliver a good messages through words.

Thanks for reading my blog, hope you gain more knowledge! xx

Salutations :)

Hi, this is the fourteenth blog of mine. I want to introduce myself, my name is Tjut Aliffah Keumala, mostly people called me Iffa. I'm 100% muslim, it's a really beautiful religion, it's good for my heart. Well why I wanna introduce myself in the fourteenth, cause I was born in Bekasi, 14 March 1993, so I'm proudly 19 now.. (no way, it's going on 20 T.T). So um, I'm a student of Universitas Indonesia majoring Communication, particularly Public Relation. I'm the only one daughter of loveable parents on earth. Lot of people told me that being the only one daughter is ah-mazing.. but hey, you didn't know how being a solo mediator of internal marriage problem was scary enough. But I admit it there's a joy of being the only one daughter such as: living like a princess, being the main concern of parents and so on.. Actually all the situation is like a coin there will always be two sides, in a real life the choices are being good or bad. My favourite food is sushi and my favourite drink is mom's home made es buah, it's so yummmyy. My hobby is traveling cause I love to see something new, meet new people especially the locals, new culture, different languages, gain new information and experiences. I also surround by incridible best friends and friends whom I can't mentioned one by one here, but I do love them. They gave me lots of love and support after my parents.

My life is change since I was in a university, nowadays I become an open minded person. Regarding to this blog, it's one of my practices in the future. Cause being a public relations practitioners, you gotta have a writing style and be unique. Fyi, PR isn't a person who only good at public speaking but actually PR is a strategy of a company, the job is to maintain the communcation flow intern and extern of the company, keep the reputation/image of the company stay stable or maybe make it better, engage with the media and etc. According to media, my lecturer said that the PR person is the one who have privilege to write what happen in the company to media, therefore writing skills is required to be a PR. It's hard actually, but it's already in my dream-list that I need to achieve someday..amin!

The other purpose of writing a blog, my reason is simply because Imma overreacted person, that's why sometimes I have different interpretation on something and the easiest way to relieve it by write it down. I also a lil bit want to inspire people by picturing real facts and try to captured it in my blog, so if people read it, they will easily absorb it and learn the lesson from it. My blog is actually dedicated to all of people in this world, that's why I made it in english the universal language. Cause there's no racial/religion/gender/ethnics obstacles for knowledge. I really hope that what I've wrote would be useful for everybody. I'm sorry if I made a mistake in my previous blogs. Hope you always enjoy my writing.. stay positive! :)

Unstoppable

Today I was watching 2 movies in a row, one of them is a 2010 movie called "Unstoppable". I usually didn't interested in American action thriller movie, but this movie easily grab my attention. With the director Tony Scott, the author Mark Bombac tried to potraying two unstoppable man which are Danzel Washington as an veteran allegheny and West Virginia Railroad engineer Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) and freshly hired conductor (the young cute man on the left in the picture above) named Will Colson (Chris Pine) attempt to stop an unstoppable train with no conductor in it. Shockingly based on a true story,  CSX 8888 incident, tells the story of a runway freight train and the two men who tried to stop it. I can't even imagine how to handle such kind a big trouble like that in a real situation.
So basicly, this two men survived from the freight train, but they're kindly to ran after that train just to safe the entire city. Cause the freght train bring lot of chemical liquid that can be exploded easily. And yes, just like the other movie, they're the hero of this movie. But is not as simple as a hero like spiderman and friends, they're a real human who are knowledgeable about train and the technically stuff. Considering the value, it's very touching when I saw these man lay aside their shelfishness in the sake of public safety. Very inspirable, I wish every driver, pilot&copilot, conductor, motorist, even becak driver still have to think about public safety. Now I sound over-wise, I'm not salam super or salam 165 tho, so I just want to remind all of you who read my blog to increase self-awareness of the importance of public safety.  So anyways, this movie is good enough in spare time. Not a heavy movie, valuable and you'll receive the good messages such as be brave, don't give up easily, be strong and bla bla bla... lot of good thought and lesson in it. In conclusion, happy watching guys!
